Subte – the subway of Buenos Aires. As in each big city the meeting point for the most diverse people and life stories. An ephemeral community which only lasts until the next train gets in, until the next station is reached. Young, old, poor, rich – whoever enters the station becomes part of this underground world whose rhythm sets the pulse of the metropolis above the passengers’ heads.

As different as the people in the station as full of contrasts is the music of the Tango Nuevo: Melancholy and ecstasy, movement and halt, conflict and love – united in this dance, in this music of the metropolis. In the same way also the quintet Distango unites the life stories and talents of its musicians from five different European countries. Together with the dancers Blaž & Andreja, world champions of Tango Argentino 1998, as well as the singer Nina Strnad from Slovenia they tell about ‚Subte’ through the music of the master of Tango Nuevo: Astor Piazzolla.
